Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using ElectaPlot (“the Platform”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Platform. ElectaPlot is operated by its founders (“we,” “us,” or “our”).

2. Description of Service

ElectaPlot is a crowdsourced serialized novel platform where users read, submit, and vote on chapters of community-authored books. A synopsis is published for each book; users submit chapters and vote to determine which chapter advances the story. Completed books may be published and sold in ebook and print formats.

3. Accounts

• You must create an account to submit chapters or vote. You must provide accurate information when registering.
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it.
• You must be at least 18 years old to use the Platform. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this requirement.
• We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Content Submission and License

When you submit a chapter to ElectaPlot, you grant ElectaPlot a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, publish, distribute, and sell that submission in any form or medium, including as part of a completed book sold in print or digital formats. This license applies whether or not your submission is selected as the winning chapter.

You retain copyright in your original writing, but you agree that ElectaPlot may use, publish, and commercialize your submission without further compensation to you. Winning chapters become part of the published work under the ElectaPlot brand.

By submitting, you represent and warrant that:

• The submission is your own original work.
• It does not infringe the copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights of any third party.
• It does not contain plagiarized content.
• It does not contain explicit sexual content, hate speech, or material that is illegal in your jurisdiction.

5. Voting

Each user may cast one vote per chapter. Votes may be changed or removed while voting is open. Vote manipulation, including coordinating with others to artificially influence results, is prohibited and may result in account suspension.

6. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• Submit content that is plagiarized, hateful, explicit, defamatory, or illegal.
• Create multiple accounts to vote more than once per chapter.
• Attempt to hack, scrape, reverse-engineer, or disrupt the Platform.
• Use the Platform to spam or harass other users.
• Misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any person or organization.

7. Moderation

All submissions are reviewed before they are made available for voting. We reserve the right to approve, reject, or remove any submission at our discretion, without notice or liability. Submissions that violate these Terms will be removed.

8. Intellectual Property

The ElectaPlot name, logo, and Platform design are our intellectual property. The completed books produced through the Platform are owned by ElectaPlot, incorporating licensed contributions from community members under the terms described in Section 4. Nothing in these Terms grants you any rights to the ElectaPlot brand or Platform outside of using the service as described.

9. Disclaimers

The Platform is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the Platform will be available at all times or that it will be free from errors. We are not responsible for the content submitted by users.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ElectaPlot and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform, including loss of data or revenue. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or the Platform will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, if any.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Platform will be resolved in a court of competent jurisdiction in the United States.

13. Paid Membership

ElectaPlot offers an optional paid membership at $7/month. Billing is processed securely through Stripe and is subject to Stripe's terms of service. By subscribing, you authorize ElectaPlot to charge your payment method on a recurring monthly basis.

You may cancel your membership at any time from your account settings. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period — your access to paid features will continue until that date.
